Requirements: Grade 12 certificate and a 3 year tertiary qualification in Library and information Management or experience (1- 2 years’) in the Library/Information Management environment. Computer literacy and knowledge of Library automated systems. Planning, budgeting and reporting skills. Good organizing, interpersonal, writing and communication skills. Knowledge of Library policies, Performance Monitoring and Evaluation (PME), data and information management. Statistical analysis skills.
Duties: The successful candidate will be responsible for the following: Classify and catalogue materials. Manage the Resource Centre loan system, subscriptions, acquisition of material. Maintain inter-library loan procedures and relationships with relevant stakeholders. Organise physical aspects of the Resource Centre. Archive current and relevant information in the shared folder. Keep an update register of users. Market the Resource Centre and develop a Resource Centre Bulletin. Information management and dissemination. Database management (INMAGIC & Sabinet online). Assist with the administration of the PME data and Information Management System (IMS). Network in the sector of Library and Information Services.
Notes: The successful candidate will be required to enter into an employment contract and conclude an annual performance agreement with the relevant Authority within three (1) months upon commencement of duty. The recommended candidate will be subjected to security clearance. Qualifications will be verified (It is the applicant’s responsibility to have foreign qualifications evaluated by the South African Qualifications Authority-SAQA). The incumbent of the post will be required to disclose his/her financial interest in accordance with the prescribed regulations.
