Requirements

Minimum requirement:

  • Basic reading, writing and numeracy skills.

Experience:

  • Appropriate experience on transportation of passengers and goods in a health environment.

Inherent requirements of the job:

  • Valid (B/EB/C1) driver’s licence.
  • Valid Public Driver’s Permit (PDP).
  • Good physical health.
  • Willingness to work overtime and shifts (as a relief) as per needs requirement.

Competencies (knowledge/skills):

  • Ability to communicate in at least two of three official languages of the Western Cape.
  • Safe driving skills.
  • Knowledge of Transport Circular 4 of 2000.
  • Good knowledge of road networks in Cape Town/Peninsula.

Duties (key result areas/outputs):

  • Transport goods, services and personnel from one point to the other.
  • Conduct routine maintenance, inspection of vehicles, timeously reporting of defects and keeping of logbooks.
  • Effective delivery and collection of blood products/specimens
  • Prepare reports for transport officer and act as relief when required.
  • Ensure continuity of service by assisting other sections when required.
  • Adhere to traffic rules and violations when driving a Government vehicle.
